WINTER IS HERE CENTRAL OREGON!!!!!
PREPARING FOR WINTER WE WANT YOU TO BE WARM BE COOL BE HAPPY.
HERE ARE SOME HELPFUL HINTS TO OBTAIN THAT:
- 1. THINK AHEAD
Preparing for winter in a high, dry, and cold climate like Central Oregon can be tough. For years now we’ve stated that proper preparation for your heat pumps is the key to a happy winter. You don’t want to get caught on a really cold day with equipment that is malfunctioning. Better to check out all your heating equipment ahead of time and if needed, schedule a service/maintenance.
- 2. CHECK YOUR FILTER
We recommend using a high quality filter. A MERV 10 or 11 can reduce particle dust by 80%.
- 3. CHECK YOUR FURNACE FOR PROPER OPERATION
Cycle your furnace on and off a few times (10 mins or so).
- 4. CLEAN OUT YOUR AIR VENTS
Lift off the register cover and gently vacuum down inside your duct. While you have your vacuum out you might want to check your return air vent. They can get really dirty. Use your brush attachment to clean them. Also remove any objects that might obstruct the air flow from your vents.
- 5. PROGRAM YOUR THERMOSTAT WISELY
If you have a Gas Furnace or a Heat Pump set your thermostat to go down no more than 4*F at night and when you are away from home. If you have a Ductless unit we have a saying “Set it and forget it”.
These tips will assure that you will be using the most energy efficient ways of operation and also help keep your utility bills manageable while putting the least amount of wear and tear on your equipment. If you think you’re unequipped to perform these tasks, you can rely on us to help.
